One day the student comes to the master with a question: “How can I better master my problems and stressful situations?” The master answers: “Imagine you are cooking an egg a carrot or a coffee bean. What is happening? How do they react to the boiling water?
The boiling water makes the egg harder inside and the shell becomes softer. The carrot becomes softer and is broken down in the long run. The longer you brew the coffee bean, the more it gives off its taste to the water. Over time it changes the water but not itself. It stays as it was! How do you want to react to the hot circumstances? As an egg or as a carrot or as a coffee bean? ”
What does this story have to do with leadership? What strength do you need to develop to react as a coffee bean?
